Mini-Persocom with a fiery temper
Kotoko
Hibiya's miniature companion
Just as small as Sumomo but far more hot-tempered, Kotoko watches over Chitose Hibiya, the landlady of the building where Hideki lives, with a combativeness and an instinctive wariness toward anyone who might pose a threat to her owner. This blunter nature, often a source of comedy during her inevitable squabbles with Sumomo, actually conceals a loyalty just as deep as her miniature rival's, simply expressed in a more direct and less conciliatory way. The verbal clashes between the two mini-Persocoms are among the lightest and most beloved moments in the series, offering a welcome counterpoint to the growing gravity of the main plot as the mystery surrounding Chi comes into focus. Beyond her comic role, Kotoko also proves to be a valuable source of information and support for Hibiya, with whom she discreetly shares certain secrets tied to her owner's past and, by extension, to the legend of the Chobits itself. This status as a small but essential confidante makes Kotoko far more than a simple comic device: she takes part, in her own modest but determined way, in the slow unveiling of the mysteries that structure the entire series, all while keeping to the end that fiery temper that makes her instantly recognizable and endearing.
